Even before the Corona outbreak, when reaching out to doctors through online platforms was hardly a concept in Nepal, our team had come up with an innovative solution to simplify telemedicine communication.
The idea for Talk My Doc originated when we first identified the frustrations of doctors when patients constantly called or texted them through WhatsApp and Viber at inconvenient hours. The untimely and unrestricted influx of consultation inquiries from unknown people meant their phones buzzed off from numerous notifications, which was frustrating and often infuriating.
Released in September 2019, the first version introduced a verification process for doctors after registration. This allowed patients to confidently choose a doctor from the list of verified doctors, view profiles, and send chat requests.
Security & HIPAA Compliance
"In medical practice, doctor and patient confidentiality are of the utmost importance. We followed HIPAA compliance, encrypted all profile information, and made sure we didn’t store any chat messages on our servers once received."
The next logical step was video call, rolled out as the teleconsultation service in version 2.0 (October 2021). The introduction of video now enables patients to communicate face-to-face after booking slots and paying consultation fees through eSewa.
